Over the last week we’ve done a huge amount of work on our account management system and have been able to integrate Facebook Connect meaning that you can now create a Photoswarm photo website, or sign in to your existing site, with your Facebook account.

If you’ve already got a site that you signed up to with a conventional email address and password, we’ve also built a functionality to link this up to your Facebook login the next time you access it, should you wish to.

This also lays the foundation for a deeper integration with Facebook in the future. Expect photo synchronisation, inviting friends, status updates and more.

  • Non Boring Terms & Conditions & a Few Frilly Features.

Potentially the most boring part of any website is it’s terms & conditions. Our new terms that we’ve just posted, whilst granted, do harbour their fair share of coma inducing jargon, have got a fantastic little surprise. Clearly we’re not going to spell it out for you…..you’ll just have go and take a look.

On a more serious note, we’ve written these terms with everybody’s best interests at heart and if there is something that you are not sure about or downright want changed then let us know by leaving feedback. We read everything and love to know what our users are thinking.

We’ve also made a few small cosmetic changes to our users sites to make us look just that little bit prettier:

Nicer tag swarm: On the right hand side of the user sites the tag swarm now spreads itself out evenly within it’s container.

Optional borders for photos: Photos displayed fullscreen can now have a thin white border framing them. This feature can be turned on from within the site settings part of your admin pages.

Plain backgrounds: User sites now have the option of having a simple plain background as well as the swanky lined one. Again, this can be accessed from the admin pages.

Arrow keys cycle through images: When viewing images fullscreen, the arrow keys can now be used to flick between each image as well as the mouse.

Easier admin navigation: It’s now easier to tell which admin page you are on and which one you want to go to.

Save changes feedback: A little feedback box will let you know when your changes have been saved so you know what’s going on the whole time.

Like these features? Got some of your own you want developed? Let us know!

  • Sell your Photos!

We’re very proud to say that our pro photo websites now support the selling of images via paypal. This new feature is based upon a fairly simple paypal shopping cart process where visitors click on a paypal “buy now” button and then complete the buy transaction via the paypal website.

Pro users can set this up from within the admin section of your photo website by editing the album containing the photos you wish to sell and then navigating to the “sell images” area. From there you can enter your paypal email address or merchant number, choose a currency and begin entering individual media, size and price information for each image.

As the ordering process is done via paypal and Photoswarm is not involved at any point, the fulfilment of any order is carried out by the content owner selling the images. So if a visitor buys a large canvas print from your site, you verify that you have received the money in your paypal account, organise for the canvas print to be created & sent to your customer and also liaise with them through that process.

As you are free to edit the description of what you are selling there is no limit to the types of things that this feature could be used for. Photographs, canvas prints, greeting cards, t-shirts, stickers, mugs etc. If you can make it and organise for it to be sent to your customer then you can sell it through a Photoswarm pro photo website. You can even use it for image downloads or the licensing of photos.

You can see the new photo sale feature in action by navigating here and clicking the buy button at the bottom of the page.

Want to sell your photos but haven’t got a pro photo website? Head over here and we’ll have you up and running in no time.

We’ve just released captioning for individual images so you can now title to your hearts content. Captioning can be accessed from within the “edit photos” section of your site’s admin pages.

Like the new captioning feature? Let us know on Twitter or Facebook.

We’ve made a couple more changes to the upload process to make it even faster and slicker. It’s now also possible to share your albums via facebook, twitter and other social services directly from within the admin section. In fact, we’ve integrated it right into the album upload process to make things as easy for you as possible.

If you haven’t already grab yourself a free site and try it out yourself.

We’ve just completed a small redesign of our user photo websites giving a little more space to the tag “swarm” cloud, adding google ads and also introducing a “share this page” feature which, in addition to the image view sharing feature we released recently, allows you to share any page, album or swarm with some of the more popular social networks & websites.
